I am now living with my daughter, Jessica, who is going to make me a Grandma in April! All points to a grandson!

Right after the 1st of the year we will be getting plans out to you for your approval. Between now and then if you have any ideas or suggestions please get them into me ASAP! This is OUR reunion so please give me your ideas.


Our class reunion will take place during the 2004 Panama Canal Society Reunion. The dates are July 28, 2004 through August 2, 2004. It will be in Orlando, Florida.

In order to reserve a room at the hotel (Caribe Royale) or order tickets to any of the Panama Canal Society functions (dances, lucheon, golf tournament) you need to be a member of the Panama Canal Society. The cost is $40.00 first year and $30.00 for subsequent years. You can join online by visiting the following website:

Comments Hola, I lived in Panama 1967-1970 Ft. Davis, and 1972-1975. My sister Mel were always together. We are looking for Amlia Merez, she was from Fayetteville, N.Carolinas. Skating roller rink in Margarita, playing softball on the fields across the Ft. Gulick Post office fields, and the beaches.

Comments i was born in panama on my dads first tour. then came on my dads second tour there.lived in quarry heights 69-73.I think that every kid should have a chance to live in place like Panama.

Comments Anybody out there know what they're going to do with the Volcan Baru National Park lately?. I guess you all remember the cool fresh beauty of the pristine natural cloud forest, that cool cloud drizzle they call "bajareque" right up there next to Boquete and Volcan? Well I hate to inform you that all this is about to change and the Parque Nacional Volcan Baru (PNVB) is in grave danger of disappearing as such and with it a great portions of pristine tropěcal cloud forest woodlands and many types of endemic species many of which only populate this tiny spot on this planet. The reason for this tragic event, a personal whim of building an insane road through a National Park and the diehard stubborness from the first lady president this country (Panama) has ever had and (not to be a sexist) probably the last it ever will. Its seems this lady president we have now in Panama has gone mad and intends to mow down all the trees in order to build a road (which she has the nerve to call "ecological") right thru the (PNVB) which will run right thru her property and associates http://www.thepanamanews.com/pn/v_09/issue_22/news_03.html. She has even enacted a decree in order to change the National Park Law to allow this. The situation has reached the point of "critical mass" now that president Mireya has subreptiously and almost like a thief in the middle of the night enacted a new decree 107 of the 13 of November, 2003 through the gazeta oficial, which modifies the existing one (decree 40 of June 24, 1976) which created the (PNVB) originally http://www.prensa.com/hoy/portada/1382992.html and now allows the building of the road by presidential decree. Since when can one person alone make or change laws? Not very democratic I believe.
Now to the bottom line we know that our lady president is quite dependent on the approval by the the US Senate and Congress on many deals and "sensitive" issues and many of these trade agreements hinge on environmental concerns.
Therefore I urge you all concerned "Canal Zone Brats" to prevent this little lady from getting away with this "ecological madness". Therefore I urge you to voice your concern directly to your Congressman on this matter. We also know that whatever the US voices carry a lot of clout throughout the world. (you're free to use my letters and articles and all the material available on all our websites we created for this purpose). The dry season is just 15 days away and the tractors are already posted around the park for the assault. I believe that we are doing quite a bit down here organizing rallies, writing articles, informing people but I'm sure that with just a little help from our freinds up there in Capitol Hill might make that little extra difference. HELP!
