Comments I was looking at the tribute my friend Heather Erickson told me was here for my brother in law Joel who lost his life in Iraq right before Christmas. There are many families enduring this kind of terrible pain right now as well as my sister and niece and the extended family and friends of Joel. Love your family today. As we have seen tomorrow is not promised. We never imagined Joel would die in Iraq. It is just too unbelievable for words.

My name is Jennifer (Hayward) Franco. I am writing you because back in the late 1990's, I believe, this web site posted a message about a University student in Germany (Stefan Roettger) that was making a documentary on people who lived and worked in the Panama Canal (if my memory serves me right). Anyway I answered to this posting and gave the young man information on how to get together with my foster Grandparents Faye and Preston Minton in Coronado. The young man was able to go to Coronado and interview Preston.

Since then I have lost contact with this young University gentleman.

My question is, if anyone is still in contact with this young man or know how I can get a hold of him. I would truly like to have a copy of his documentary since Preston Minton died last October and that would have been the last interview that Preston ever gave.

If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Comments Found this site quite by accident while doing some work-related research. I've revisited several times since.

As an Army brat who has lived many places, I remember the Canal Zone as the best of them by far. Until stumbling on to this site, I thought I had graduated from high school in a place that no longer existed. Thank you for keeping the memories alive.

Would love to hear about upcoming reunions -- and from anyone who may remember me.

Comments I miss Panama so much. I found this site by chance. I lived there for 5 and a half years. I lived in the 300 and 1100 areas on Ft. Clayton, I went to Diablo, Clayton and Curundu Elementary and Curundu Junior high. The pics on this site almost made me cry. Forgot how beautiful it was. Hey to all Canal Zone Brats, it was fun.
