Comments Thanks for this great place to be able to reach out and touch those that have been a part of your life. I see of mobs of parrots and seas of crayola colored fish. Rain that leaves you soaked and happy. Fruit that most people will never taste, and can only imagine the discriptions that we give them. The looks of sceptisism you get when you discribe a ginyup or a rose apple are almost comical. The looks you get just for discribing the night sky, will only mark you as a liar. But "we" know the truth of it. We lucky few, who have spent a bit of time in paradise and will only look back with envy and wish we were still there. Thank you czbrats for giving me a platform to connect with those I long to hear from. I hope to hear from friends and all that remember me. Thanks

Comments My father is Clarence C. Stanfield, he
was a Command Sergeant Major in the Green Beret stationed at Ft. Gulick from 1970-1974. My sister, Jeannie and I graduated from Cristobal High School and loved the Zonian way of life...Pina Beach, the Tarpon Club and h.s. parties at hangers. It was also fun taking the train to the Pacific side for football games and going into the Republic of Panama. Very fond memories!

Comments I have so many great memories living in the Canal Zone. I returned to Panama in July for a family reunion, I had not been back since 1980. Wow,was I amazed to see how it had changed and also sad to see that Balboa High did not exist.
I showed my sons my favorite haunts, even though some do not exist,the Yacht club, Balboa club House, etc,etc. I would love to hear from anyone who new my brothers Rick,Tom and I.

Comments I lived in Coco Solo from 1971-ish to 1975-ish. My dad was in the Navy. I attended the elementary school there from 3rd grade to 6th grade. We went to church at a Lutheran church near Fort Gulick I think it was. Anyone who remembers me, email me, it would be neat to talk to you! I was in Mrs Palmer's 3rd grade, Mrs. Hewitt's 4th grade, Mr Hudson's 5th grade and Mrs. Dalton's(?)6th grade. I have fond memories of Panama, I bore my kids to death with the stories. :-)


Some memories include... going home for lunch and coming back to school after... running over crabs in the car, the road was covered with thousands of them... playing in the street after a huge rain, it would flood and the WHOLE neighborhood would be out there after... watching the ships go through the Canal and hoping someday I'd be on one... driving through Rainbow City to see the Christmas lights... having a maid...the movie theater in Margarita, getting in for free and paying 10 cents for popcorn and 5 cents for soda... those prickly things that grew in the grass that you always had to watch out for since we never wore shoes!...watching fireworks from Colon on 4th of July over the water... visiting the Smith and Sholtes families at Ft Davis... eating genips... going to Ft San Lorenzo with my parents to go bottle-digging (they dug, my sister and I whined about being cold and hungry and dirty mostly lol)... finding shells and pieces of pottery and glass and bottles on the beach... I could go on but won't. Contact me if you remember me! :-)

where Jimmy Steele might be. We lived in Gatun, but he moved to gamboa. Some of you might not remember me, But I married Gena Stinnett in July 2001. We dated while I lived in the cz, it took 23 years and a divorce for the both of us but we finally did it, couldn't be happier.
