Time: 1999-07-06 05:28:07 Comments: A dime used to buy me a hotdog and a pack of chiclets for lunch in the Gamboa clubhouse, although my favorite food from that era was the empanadas out of the CJHS vending machines,that I'd take a bite out and fill it up with ketchup. That was in 65. Mrs Patterson was my first Spanish teacher and I remember building human pyramids in gym, and a good round of survival with the red playground balls was always fun. Good grief "Goldfinger" was the movie of the day! Then my family moved to Balboa, and I recall stopping by the train station every day on my way home from school and Charlie, the guy who ran the little concession there would let me and my friends sit over in the station and read the comic books for free as long as we didn't bend them up or anything. Those were such care free days, and they were fun, but now I've been married for nearly twenty years and I wouldn't trade my pretty wife who also happens to be my best friend for all the CZ's. |
