Comments I left the Canal Zone in 1977 and moved to Cape Cod Mass. Lo and behold, another canal. I have never forgotten about life in the Canal Zone.This is one thing that northern gringos can never understand. I had some of the best times of my life there and will never forget. It is good to see that most everyone else feels the same way. Hope all is well with all and Happy New Year!

Comments Arrived in the Canal Zone in 1976 and lived in Quarry Heights, but not up on the hill. We lived behind the elementry school and could walk to the high school. My brother Mike graduated from BHS in 1976 before going to Canal Zone College for one year. My sister Carolyn graduated in 1979 from BHS. Love to hear from others from the Canal Zone especially those from the late 70's.

Comments I lived in Panama when I was 10,11, and 12 (I am 44 now). We first lived on Rodmen then to Coco Solo. Our family was one of the first Marine families on that base and my dad was head over all the Marines there at that time.

All my life I have never forgot the fond memories I have of Panama and the Canal Zone. I can honestly say without reservation that it was the best 3 years of my life. When I die, I don't care if I go to heaven or not because I know in my heart that I have already been there -- Panama Canal Zone.

Bledsoe" at the top. Reverse says: Hurricanes, Major League Champions 1943, Diablo Heights, CZ." I'd be glad to send it to whoever can recognize and claim it.

Comments I found this site while looking for info. on Fort Clayton. Like many, I didn't know the Canal Zone existed until the Army sent me there; that was in 1965-1967, a golden era to be sure when compared to the present. Also, like many who were in the service, I yearned to get "home". A lesson learned too late in life is 'to stop longing for the past and looking for the future; and enjoy the present. Though now I find myself longing to go back and see the CZ again, ofcourse "now" we really can't go back!
